All of this reminds me of a bug in AOL4.0

In case you haven't used it (be glad), AOL4 allows imbedded pictures in
email (background pictures).  If you name a .jpg 235 characters, opening the
email crashes AOL.

Was this alreay reported?  Forgive me if so.
