Will Banks Accept These Checks?
ANSWER:
Banks refer to the type of checks prepared by Telephone Check Payment
Systems as "Demand Drafts" and they are routinely paid by all major banks
without any problem (assuming of course there is sufficient funds in the
account to cover the checks). The check will be printed on check paper
using the special magnetic ink that banks require, as well as the unique
Magnetic Character Recognition typeface that is used on checks and meets
the standards established by the banking industry.
Telephone Check Payment Systems themselves have been accepting checks over
the phone from all over the country since 1993 without any problem. And
we don't see any difference in the percentage of checks returned for
insufficient funds for checks taken over the phone than for checks
routinely received by mail.

Do Consumers Have To Worry About Giving Their Checking Account Information
on the Phone, by Fax or by Internet?
ANSWER:
No! Consumers are protected by the same law that protects credit card
holders -- the Federal Truth in Lending Law. If a consumer's checking
account information is misused, all the consumer has to do is take the
misused check to his or her bank and the bank will credit the consumer's
checking account and return the check to the bank where it was deposited.

Do You Accept Checks From Outside The U.S.?
ANSWER:
Currently we are creating demand drafts for banks in the United States
(all 50 states) and, since they are bound by US Banking Regulations, its
protectorates and territories. Territories and protectorates include
Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, etc.

Can You Create Checks Against Nonchecking Accounts With "Checking
Privileges"? What About Money Orders?
ANSWER:
Demand Drafts can only be created against checking accounts. If a
non-checking account has checking privileges, such as money market
accounts, CD's, etc., we can create a check against that account.
All we need to create a draft is the name of the account holder, the
check number, the name and address of the bank, the dollar amount of
the check to be created, and the numbers across the bottom of the check,
which include routing codes for the bank, customer account number, and
check number.
Since checks are not created against savings accounts, we cannot create
them for you. The same with money orders. Money orders are simply
verification that a particular entity has the specific amount of money
in their hands from the person to whom the money order was given. It is
illegal to recreate money orders.

Do You Guarantee That These Checks Will Be Paid By Banks?
ANSWER:
Some people confuse what Telephone Check Payment Systems does with what
check guarantee services do. Let us clarify the differences for you!
Telephone Check Payment Systems creates an actual paper draft (check)
from the checking account information that a business receives by phone,
fax or through the Internet from a customer who wishes to pay by check
without actually mailing a check from their checkbook. No guarantee is
given as to whether the checking account holder has sufficient funds on
deposit to cover the check.
A check guarantee service guarantees that a check received by a business
will be paid. They do not recreate or deliver checks to a business. There
are many check guarantee services and their charges vary. We are working
with such a service and we will be pleased to introduce them to you. They
are one of the few who will accept checks taken over the phone. They charge
1.5% of the amount of each check up to $500 that they guarantee payment on,
and 3% on checks from $501 up to $2500 (their maximum).
Some check guarantee services will, for a small fee, allow users of their
services to do check verification. As an example, for 25 cents per check
you can access the check guarantee company's database for an indication of
if they would guarantee the check in question. They will give you a yes or
no as to whether they would guarantee the check, but for the reduced rate
no actual guarantee is given.
Internet based and mail order companies generally withhold shipment of
merchandise until the customer's check clears the bank. Collection
agencies, fund raisers and similar Telephone Check Payment System clients
are not making any shipments so they do not really need to pay for check
guarantee services. Some of our clients simply phone their customer's
bank to see if sufficient funds are on deposit to cover the check in
question. Although this is not a guarantee that the funds will still be
in their bank account when the check is presented for clearance, it is an
indication that may satisfy a business who does not wish to pay for check

== We Accept Credit Cards ==
One of the objects of the truly successful entrepreneur or business is to
make it as easy as possible for your customers to order. There are a few
important reasons why the acceptance of credit cards offers your customers
an extremely high degree of convenience:
1. Your customers make a purchase even if they are "broke" at the time.
2. Your customers can order through the Internet, by phone, mail or fax.
3. Your customers get their order filled now offering instant gratification.
To get the privilege of accepting credit cards for payment you will need to
obtain a credit card merchant account from a willing bank. Unfortunately,
there are several requirements that you will have to meet to accomplish this.
For example, almost all banks require that you have excellent credit - most
banks require you to have been in business for several years - most local
banks do not accept home businesses. Unfortunately many Internet operated,
family operated and small businesses cannot meet these requirements.
There is sometimes a way around this scenario. There are some banks that
are willing to take a higher risk and even allow home business to obtain
merchant accounts. The challenge comes in finding these banks. They will
not come knocking at your door, and they are usually not local banks.
I have done research into a group of banks that do consider high risk
businesses. As a matter of fact some time ago I was one of those high
risk business and could not get a merchant account from convention means.
The main draw-back is that the banks will usually charge you excessive
processing fees to compensate for accepting a high risk company. Don't
lose any sleep over the processing fee because you will more than make up
the expense in your increased profits.
From my research I compiled a list that I named "The Insider List Of High
Risk Credit Card Merchant Account Issuers". (Yes, I know. Its a very long
name, but you get the picture.) At the end of this newsletter see the
BizNews Insider Reference section for how to get a copy of this list.
The first major task is to call several Merchant account issuers on this
list and find one who really wants your business and is willing to go the
extra mile for you. He or she will possibly be able to pull a few strings
when needed. Please be aware that many of the names on "The Insider List.."
are actually independent agents or companies that are working on behalf of
a bank. Don't be alarmed. This is very good for you because to make money
the agent has to help get you qualified. Otherwise the agent has simply
wasted time. "And time is money!"
Even banks accepting high risk businesses still requires the business
owner(s) to have excellent credit. If your credit is not good enough one
way to deal with this problem is to bring an outside party (close friend
or relative) into your company who does have excellent credit. By
constructing your legal ownership papers such that the person with
excellent credit has the largest ownership in the company then an
ambitious merchant account agent will use this to help you pass the
credit check.
Once you have passed the credit check you are usually "home free." You
then have the choice of using credit card processing equipment or software.
If you have a personal computer and you are doing business over the Internet,
mail order, or phone then it is probably wise to choose the software. Many
agents will not suggest this because the software is not as expensive.
With traditional equipment you will have to dial up and check the customer's
credit card authorization manually. If you choose the software then it can
dial up your merchant account bank and send all your customer's account
information in one batch sending you back authorizations or rejections.
You can even import your customer's credit card information from your
computer's data base directly into your merchant account software for
processing.
If you want your business to reach its true potential you will have to
incorporate convenient ordering methods such as the credit card. If you
don't already have a credit card merchant account then strongly consider
getting a copy of "The Insider List Of High Risk Credit Card Merchant

newsletter and forge ahead. With a little ingenuity you too can use the
power of credit cards to generate higher profits with a minimal investment.
== How To Win The Game of Credit ==
A reference to insider credit strategies has been needed for years. I think
that it will be helpful to you for now if we present this topic each month
in the form of a question and answer session. There are few things that
conjure up as many questions as the world of credit. This month lets
answer a couple of commonly asked questions concerning many individuals.

Which credit card issuers are more likely to approve you - local, regional
or nationwide issuers?
Answer:
Nationwide issuers who have a lot of out of state cardholders and charge
higher annual fees and interest rates are much more likely to approve your
credit card application. On the other hand, banks with lower interest rates
and smaller customer bases are less likely to approve your application.
Question?
Which credit cards have the most advantages, variable rate cards or fixed
rate cards?
Answer:
The rates of variable rate cards may vary monthly or quarterly and to money
indexes such as the prime rate or T-Bill rate. Most of these cards go up
or down with a minimum floor rate. Fixed rate cards stay the same. Since
variable rate credit cards are the lowest rate cards, they would have to be
considered the most advantageous.

***INSIDER TAX STRATEGIES**
Very few businesses and families take advantage of all the tax breaks that
they are entitled to. Every tax break, strategy, or loophole means money
kept in your pocket. Lets quickly examine a couple.
== When Not Sharing In a Marriage Leads to High Profits ==
If a husband and wife own separate corporations, they must make sure that
one spouse is not a shareholder, officer, employee, check signer, or
director of the other spouse's corporations. The couple will lose a big
tax break. The first $50,000 of a corporation's taxable income is taxed
at 15%. If a spouse has ownership of some type in the other spouse's
corporation they will have to split the benefit of graduated income tax
rates. In other words the two companies will have to divide the $50,000
and only $25,000 of each company's taxable income will be taxed at 15%.
Other tax brackets will be required to split also.
Make it a priority point if you and your spouse plan to both own
corporations. Do not be a shareholder, director, employee, etc. in your
spouse's corporation.
== Don't Give Your Children an Allowance, Give 'em a Salary! ==
Find your children real work to do in your business instead of giving them
an allowance. Pay them salaries that are reasonable. You can then deduct
the salaries as a business expense. The tax advantage: If your business
is not incorporated you don't have to pay Social Security tax on wages paid
to a child who is under 18. Additionally, your children can earn over
$3,000 tax-free. You can also put $2,000 of a child's salary in an
Individual Retirement Account and have another substantial tax break.
