Revisions since V1.0: Reformatted to my current standard episode guide format. Wrote my own, slightly more involved synopses. Added detailed cast and production credits. Updated to the current (11 Aug 92) episode. Added the original (1989) pilot. FOREVER KNIGHT Premise & Characters: "He was brought across in 1228. Preyed on humans for their blood. Now he wants to be mortal again. To repay society for his sins. To emerge from his world of darkness. From his endless, forever night." FOREVER KNIGHT concerns the adventures of Nick Knight, an 800-year- old vampire who hates the killing and is determined to once again become mortal. He currently works the night shift as a detective for the Toronto Police Department homicide division. Schanke (pronounced "skenky") is Nick's full-of-himself (and full of it) partner, and Captain Stonetree their boss, neither of whom know what Nick really is. Natalie is a coroner who knows Nick's secret and is trying various physiological means to help bring him "back over". Lacroix is Nick's master - the one who made Nick a vampire, and Jeanette is a vampire who was a lover of both Nick and Lacroix in 13th Century France and now runs the Raven, a Toronto nightclub which counts vampires among its customers. Notes: In August 1989, CBS aired a 2-hour movie, NICK KNIGHT, as a pilot for a proposed series. It was set in California and starred Rick Springfield as the undead dick. A series never came of it, but the concept was...er...resurrected and revamped (ouch!) as FOREVER KNIGHT for CBS's late-night "Crimetime After Primetime" line-up. The two-part premiere of FOREVER KNIGHT, with some modifications, is a remake of the original NICK KNIGHT movie. It's worth noting that John Kapelos (Schanke) is the only cast member from the original pilot to transfer over to the series. In the Broadcast Schedule, the episode numbers appear as both "x.y" and "z". "X" is the season number, "y" the episode number within the season, and "z" the whole episode number. (This won't really mean anything until (if) the series goes into a second season.) The on-screen cast lists in the closing credits do not provide character names to go with the actors' names. Any assignment of character name or description to an actor is either (a) taken from TV GUIDE entries, (b) because I recognize the actor from elsewhere and can associate a spoken character name with that actor, or (c) the result of a reasonable process of elimination. Character names are enclosed in brackets since they don't appear on-screen; if a character name is not in brackets it means that the name *does* appear on-screen (Principal Cast list excepted). Any actor-to- character assignment I'm fairly sure of, but unable to guarantee, is accompanied by question marks. Schanke's first name, and the name of the coroner in the original pilot, comes from Lee Goldberg's UNSOLD TV PILOTS (1991). In order to catch him, Nick must try to overcome his fear and loathing of the Church and its symbols. Meanwhile, flashbacks to 15th Century France show Nick's encounter with a young peasant girl doomed to become a martyr when her claims that God spoke to her results in the Church branding her as a heretic and condemning her to burn at the stake. Nick, however, has a gut feeling that it was murder, but seems unable to prove it. Added to his stack of unsolved crimes, it makes Nick question his own feelings of self-worth, especially after hearing about another, real suicide: that of one of his "old friends". Nick must search through his memories of their relationship of centuries past to determine why she killed herself, and why he shouldn't. Her powers are genuine, and therein lies the problem: she keeps picking up flashes of Nick's "other life", and Nick feels torn about whether or not to reveal himself to her, since she thinks it's a sign that she's having a breakdown. Nick's recollections of a similar situation in Puritan New England make him determined that Denise won't share the fate of his mortal friend from that time. Young Richard McMillan Catherine Swing Markus Parilo Chandra West Richard Gira Christine Reeves [Dr. Alyce Hunter] Christina Cox [Jeanne d'Arc] Helene Rousse [Nick's first victim ??] Additional Production Credits: Editor George Roulston 1st Assistant Director Mac Bradden 2nd Assistant Director Bruce Speyer 7 "False Witness" Written by Naomi Janzen Directed by Jorge Montesi Nick's feelings of responsibility for the death of a man he was supposed to protect in a "sting" operation causes him to lie about actually seeing the murderer pull the trigger. In addition to the problem of having to appear in court to testify in broad daylight, Nick's desire to see justice done struggles with his conscience. He calls up memories of an incident from the past in which a woman lies in court, condemning to death a man Nick knows to be innocent, since he saw his fellow vampire Jeanette commit the crime.
