        _Screaming_in_Digital______________________________Editor's Note_

Hello, everyone! This is my last issue from Iowa; I'll
be leaving in a matter of hours. Throughout the coming week I'll
be in the Chicago area (and largely incommunicado), but I hope to
get home in time to put out v140 on schedule. This one - v139 -
is, yes, a day early. One quick reminder: if your account is
going away and you haven't already let me know, please do so that
I can take you off the mailing lists for the summer.

Mixing in Lake Geneva? Scott <syaeger@rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu>
I was wondering if anyone knows if the band will be
mixing the new album in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, like they did on
"Empire." I don't live too far from there and have some
connections with folks at that studio, so I was hoping to maybe
meet the band. If you think that might be the place, let me
        know. :)

                I attended Networld+Interop '94 last week, and a company
called Pinnacle was showing off a new product that will be
available for purchase by the time you read this. Specifically,
the new product is a CD burner. You can create and copy both
audio and data/ROM CD's. This technology isn't really new. The
unit, however, uses a standard SCSI interface and can write in
many popular ROM formats, including ISO-9660. The nicest thing
is that the unit lists for $3999, which I understand is about 1/3
the price of the nearest competitor which doesn't have even half
the features. For example, it only takes about 10 minutes to
make or copy a CD with this unit. I thought this might be a good
way for you pirates to get me CD copies of your bootlegs :)

        Rage Bootlegs? Till <wagner@informatik.uni-frankfurt.de>
Is it true that there are no bootlegs - video, tape, CD,
LP - from "Rage for Order" available? I have one, from Toronto,
but the sound is not very satisfying. Can anybody help me out?
{There are only a few known bootlegs from the
"Rage" tour. The bootleg discographical file
on the FTP site listed on the title page lists
                        a few other than the Toronto one.  -sh}

        Unplugged Bootleg Chris <cmr@cck.coventry.ac.uk>
Can some one tell me what the track listing is and where
the non-unplugged bits are from, please?
{The bootleg file lists the following tracks:
MTV Unplugged (1992): 'I Will Remember,' 'The
Killing Words,' 'Della Brown,' 'Silent Lucidity,'
and 'The Lady Wore Black.' New York (1983):
'Prophecy,' 'Blinded,' 'The Lady Wore Black,' and
'Queen of The Reich.' Tokyo (1985):
'Deliverance,' 'Child of Fire,' 'En Force,'
                        'Warning,' and 'Take Hold of the Flame.'  -sh}

        Dies Irae Lizzie <e.a.harris@politics.hull.ac.uk>
I don't know why no one believes me on the "Dies Irae"
front, but I have sung several, and they don't have the same
words! Here for comparison is the text to "Dies Irae" from
Cherubini's "Requiem in C Minor" which I think comes out in some
places similar to the 'Ryche version:
Dies irae, dies illa solvet saeclum in favilla, teste
        David cum Sybilla.
Quantus tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus,
cuncta stricte discussurus. Tuba mirum spargens sonum per
sepulcra regionum, coget omnes ante thronum. Mors stupebit et
natura, cum resurget creatura, judicanti responsura. Liber
scriptus proferetur, in quo totum continetur, unde mundes
judicatur. Judex ergo cum sedebit, quidquid latet apparebit,
        nil inultum remanebit.
Quid sum miser tunc dicturus? Quem patronum rogaturus,
        cum vix justus sit securus?
Rex tremendae majestatis, qui salvandos salvas gratis,
        salva me, fons pietatis.
Recordare Jesu pie, quod sum causa tuae viae, ne me
perdas illa die. Quarens me sedisti lassus, redemisti crucem
passus; tantus labor non sit cassus.
Juste judex ultionis, donum fac remissionis ante diem
        rationis.
                Ingemisco tanquam reus, culpa rubet vultus meus;
supplicanti parce, Deus. Qui Mariam absolvisti, et latronem
exaudisti, mihi quoque spem dedisti. Preces meae non sunt
dignae, sed tu, bonus, fac benigne, ne perenni cremer igne.
Inter oves locum praesta, et ab hoedis me sequestra, statuens
in parte dextra. Confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus
addictis, voca me cum benedictis. Oro supplex et acclinis, cor
contritum quasi cinis, gere curam mei finis. Lacrymosa dies
illa, qua resurget ex favilla judicandus homo reus. Huic ergo
parce, Deus, pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem! Amen!
It's basically about the Day of Judgement, salvation and
damnation. I have listed the entire text for comparison.
Obviously, the 'Ryche background uses about 8 lines, of which I
think the first two lines of this are part. Odd words do stand
out from the rest. I am going to have a look and see if any
more of it makes sense, but this may come to you next week.
Incidentally, the tune is totally different from the 'Ryche one.

        CD-ROM in Canada? Ian <ad028@freenet.carleton.ca>
I'm a Canadian living in Ottawa and I'm looking for
someone who would pick up a copy of this interactive disc for me
when it is released. E-mail me if you plan to buy this and
wouldn't mind buying two. From the sounds of it, this could be
        another ground-breaking first from Queensryche.
