        _Screaming in Digital______________________________Editor's Note_

Hello again. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA and
anyone else celebrating it, don't get any cranberry sauce on the
	keyboard please.
Those of you who are in broadcast areas, remember to
listen for Queensryche on the rebroadcast of the "Rock and the
	Environment" concert.
After talking to some of you (you know who you are) and
doing lots of thinking, I've decided that it takes less time for
me to break a large digest into small chunks for a few people
once a week than it does for me to put out a small digest twice
a week. Since the hype surrounding "Building Empires" is finally
dropping off, and the academic break is nearly upon many of us,
I'm going to switch back to the Mondays-only format, with more
	information in each digest.
In this issue: Another rebroadcast, news of an upcoming
magazine interview, "Building Empires" in Europe, "Building
Empires" reviews, "Operation: Livecrime," Pamela Moore, bootlegs,
tablature, digital sound files, the "Building Empires" promo CD,
Eddie's basses, babble interpretation, and copies of television
	appearances.

	kad@iris129.biosym.com (Kinga) writes,
The local radio station here in San Diego KIOZ 102.1 FM
will be broadcasting "Rock and the Environment" on Thanksgiving
	evening at 10pm.

	dwb4025@sigma.tamu.edu (Dave) writes,
I heard that there will be a broadcast of the "Rock and
the Environment" show on the Z-Rock network on Saturday the 28th
of November. Not sure if this is the same as is going to be
broadcast on Thanksgiving; the promos on Z-rock listed just about
every Seattle band _but_ Queensryche. However, I'm betting that
	they will be on it.

	acsop25@alf.appstate.edu (Lance) writes,
A friend of mine in the music industry will be
interviewing the band, probably next week. She plans on asking
all the good questions about the new album and when she tells me
I'll tell you. If you live in Los Angeles you may find the
interview out there. Her name is Paula Hogan and I'm not sure
what the name of the magazine is.

	om1ey3@greenwich.ac.uk (Mike) writes,
According to those lovely (NOT!) people at Kerrang! and
EMI records, it looks like the release date for "Building
Empires" won't be until January 1993! Now I'm totally waving the
green flag at the people in the states.

	rts@online.com (Randy) writes,
I checked out "Building Empires." Pretty cool. I like
the way they put it together.

	jlee@weird.miami.fl.us (Jason) writes,
Just got "Building Empires." Fabulous! Ultimate
coolness, I especially liked the live 'Walk in the Shadows.'
It's great to finally have a collection of pretty much all the
videos Queensryche shot for "Empire." I have a few comments:
The 'Another Rainy Night' discarded version. Ick!
Forget discarding, why didn't they just _burn_ it in the first
place? Horrible! Or were they just trying to make sure that
director doesn't get a job with a decent rock band ever again?
The video for 'Gonna Get Close to You.' I did see the
CD version of "Rage for Order," which has a picture of them on
the back (unlike the cassette) and so I was prepared for glam,
but these were my exact words through the video:
        	"Ooo! Nice shoulder pads, Chris!"
"Ooo! How many cans of mousse did _that_ take, Geoff?"
Oh well, it's most excellent, a good deal for anyone
who hasn't picked it up yet.

	0202462@northwest.missouri.edu (Chris) writes,
I went out and bought the "Building Empires" video the
day of its release, and I haven't been able to stop watching it!
I watch it at least once a day!
One thing that I was pleasantly surprised about was the
price! I read in an interview about the time "Rage for Order"
came out that they were going to keep the prices down because
they remember what it was like to be a fan with no money. I
didn't put too much stock into it at the time, but I must say
I was pleasantly surprised when I went to get my copy! 14.95! I
couldn't really believe it. I asked the saleswoman if it was a
sale price; she said no, the regular price from the company!
Anyway, the video is too cool, one of the best I've seen!
I now understand the meaning behind 'Best I Can.'

	tsv@dbrus.unify.com (Tim) writes,
I just got a copy of "Operation: Livecrime" the other
day. It was hard to find here in Sacramento, I found the last
one at Tower Records. After watching and listening to the CD,
two things stand out as first impressions:
		1. I enjoyed the stage theatrics of 'Suite Sister Mary.'
I liked the girl dressed in white with the wind blowing on her.
Is that Pamela Moore? Did she do the entire tour with them?
		2. On the CD, you can hear Geoff talking to the crowd
a lot better than on the VHS tape. I assume it is the same
performance, why did they not include it on the video? I was
trying to show my wife that they don't get up on stage and curse
every other word like a lot of metal bands.
{Yes, that's Pamela Moore, she didn't perform at
			every show, though, unfortunately.  -sh}

	rts@online.com (Randy) writes,
Pam Moore has been on the Seattle scene for years, even
doing TV ads for music stores. She founded a band called "Boy
Toy" in which she and another very attractive lady were the
front. They played covers in the club scene. I don't think she
is doing much musically at this time, at least not in Seattle.

	crenner@mcs213k.cs.umr.edu
Do you know anything about the Queensryche boots "Might
Makes Ryche," recorded at the Nassau Coliseum July 26, 1991, and
"Breaking the Silence," recorded in Seattle Dec 31, 1988? They
have both of them at Now Hear This. Haven't listened to them, so
I don't know about the sound quality, but I can check them out
and let you know what they sound like.

	berrios@phebos.aps.anl.gov (Joe) writes,
Do you know any way I can get the tablature for 'Della
	Brown?'
{If anyone has tablature in textfile form, please
FTP it to the "incoming" directory at Glia or
e-mail it to me, and I'll make sure it gets onto
			the site.  -sh}

	darren@aerodec.anu.edu.au (Darren) writes,
Does anyone have a reliable way of transforming .au files
to a format suitable for the Mac, on a Mac?

	jrebeck@albion.bitnet (Jason) writes,
I was listening to the radio the other day and heard a
live version of 'Silent Lucidity.' As it turns out, this song
came off of what I believe to be a promo CD. I believe there
were roughly 6 or 7 songs, which included some older stuff as
well as "Mindcrime" and "Empire" material. Q-106 (Lansing, MI)
was giving this CD away. The DJ wasn't sure if it would be
released any time in the near future. Has anyone heard any
	details about this?

	acsop25@alf.appstate.edu (Lance) writes,
Just thought I would let everyone know about the
"Building Empires" promo CD. The tracks are 'Operation:
Mindcrime', 'The Lady Wore Black', 'Take Hold of the Flame', (all
the studio versions), 'I Will Remember' (from Unplugged), and
'Silent Lucidity' (live version). I have listened to the two
live tracks and they are excellent. I asked a promo person at
EMI and she said that she was not sure but, she thinks that these
CD's will only be shipped to commercial radio stations.

        _The Whisper__________________________________________Discussion_

	rts@online.com (Randy) writes,
Eddie uses a five string. Keep a close eye on him in the
"Livecrime" video. You will notice the _two_ basses he uses.

	_The Killing Words_________________________Babble Interpretation_

	mxmora@unix.sri.com (Matt) writes,
Someone asked what was said in 'Silent Lucidity.' It
starts with "Visualize your dream, according to the present
tense, into a more permanent form. If you persist in your
efforts you can achieve dream control." I can't really figure
out the "according to the present tense" part.

	scheimhd@ucbeh.san.uc.edu (Heath) writes,
In reference to John's reply about the spoken part on
'Silent Lucidity', the transcription from the "Guitar For The
Practicing Musician" was correct. The final line _is_ "you can
achieve a dream come true." However, John was also correct about
the line "You can achieve dream control." After the voice
(whose is that, anyway?) says the four line blurb, the spoken
part alternates between "dream control" and "help me". After
all, that's what lucidity is - controlling dreams and dreaming
about what one wishes to dream about. I hope that clears
	everything up.

	rave@carson.u.washington.edu (Trysh) writes,
Part of the speaking in 'Anarchy-X' is: "Do we have
freedom? Do we have equality? What do we have? This country
is changing. It is no longer for all of the people, It is for
	some of the people."
As for the end of 'Anybody Listening?' it is an accidental
recording of the producer bitching about having a rough day.
They realized that it got recorded and decided to save part of it
	for the album.

	berrios@phebos.aps.anl.gov (Joe) writes,
I am looking for a copy of the MTV music awards that
	featured Queensryche playing 'Silent Lucidity.'

	ckc1@lehigh.edu (Cedrick) writes,
Here's my request for the MTV Unplugged stuff. I'm
willing to pay shipment fees and any other reasonable costs
	incurred.

	r_turgeo@oz.plymouth.edu (Randy) writes,
If anyone wants a copy of the "Unplugged" show on MTV,
you can get it from me. Send me a blank tape, and a couple
dollars for shipping and handling. I'm not in this for profit.
The recording is in good shape, not great, but definitely worth
while. I wont try to edit it, so you will get it with
commercials included, sorry. Make sure you send me enough money
to send it back to you. Address:
		Randy Turgeon
		4 Stonybrook Lane
		Raymond, NH 03077
