        _Screaming in Digital______________________________Editor's Note_

Well, here it is May already. In this issue, there's a
bit more about favorite songs, groups that sound similar to
Queensryche, the best-laid plans of Queensryche fans going awry,
dreams and aspirations, and upcoming releases to look forward to.
Life in my corner of the world has become a bit more
hectic of late, though I don't even have any final exams. I
guess it's some kind of empathy for those who do. Anyway, this
digest got done about 3 AM on Monday. There are a few more GIFs
on the FTP site, and one of these days, I'll upload the most
        recent version of the discography.
Rogue has made the decision to go to University of Puget
Sound officially now, so we will be relocating to Tacoma WA later
this summer... right down the freeway from Queensryche.
One of the unfortunate points of my being short on time
is that some of you are waiting for me to give you information
about possible summer connections. I've been able to dedicate
only a small amount of time to that so far. Therefore - if you
have a request in, and have not yet received information in
return from me, please send me some way to contact you as soon as
you receive this. Address, phone number, whatever. I do still
plan to find out for as many people as I can, it's just going to
        take a little while.

        jebusha@uccs.edu writes,
Radio station KILO 93.9 in Colorado Springs says that
another concert video will be put together by the end of the
summer or early fall. It is supposed to be a compilation of the
        Building Empires tour.
{Yay! Finally, we can get all the videos off
                        Empire that MTV played maybe twice.  -sh}

Could it be possible, to put at the start of the digest,
a small list including the issues discussed in the week's issue?
{Good idea. I'll implement it... er, have
                        implemented it, starting with this one.  -sh}

        kinga@sd.cadence.com (Kinga) writes,
I read about Ray Adler dreaming about opening for
Queensryche or Rush in the future. From now on, I dream about
        that too.
{That's a question - how many of us are in bands
                        of one sort or another?  -sh}

        dwb4025@summa.tamu.edu (David) writes,
Sunday the 26th, a show about rock stars and environment
was aired on the radio. They said and it included interviews
with Queensryche. I was going to record it, but someone broke my
dorm window in, so I was distracted. If anyone did record it I
would like to get a hold of a copy.

        tjs107@psuvm.psu.edu (Sime) writes,
Any news about Queensryche's next album at all? In est,
release date, content, title, et cetera?
{We're now looking for it toward the end of this
year, or early next year. I wouldn't be at all
surprised if they released it right before the
holidays. It's going to be "darker" than Empire
                        but that's all they've said so far.  -sh}

Somebody's quoted the spoken part of 'Silent Lucidity'
from the guitar magazine transcription twice now. Maybe it's
time for a Frequently Asked Questions list.
{There's one in the works, but finding time to
                        work on it has not been easy of late.  -sh}

Any news on the ads from Dean Markley strings? I'm
waiting for a response from the company but haven't received one
        as of yet.
{I've been meaning to get back in touch with them
                        as soon as I find the time.  -sh}
        [ ]
Group 1 (Brian, Paul, Steve, Christine, Ross, Kinga) write,
MTV has stopped showing Most Wanted. They've replaced it
with something called Hanging With MTV and it has nothing to do
with playing requested videos, or at least that's what it looks
like. They were continually saying last week that Most Wanted
would stop being aired. Don't you hate MTV?
We fooled around too long trying to put 'Queen of the
Reich' in the number one spot, because MTV's most wanted is gone
forever. Oh well, better luck next time.
My roommate just called and said that Dial MTV played
'Silent Lucidity.' Did people call in the right song? Did MTV
f*ck us all over and not play what we requested? Inquiring
        rychesters want to know!!!
I could never get through to 1-800-DIAL-MTV. Then again,
I've never _ever_ gotten through to it in my life! It's always
busy! Did anyone get through? I was not able to find out or
watch MTV, but did a Queensryche video get played? I think that
Dial MTV thing is bogus anyway, it doesn't really work, they
play the videos that they are paid to play, probably.
I have a quick question about this Most Wanted thing. I
assume it doesn't come on at 10:00 PM eastern time anymore
(that's when I went to tape it last night and got Rock 'n' Jock
instead). Did MTV play the old stuff or are they a fraud as most
        people figure anyway.
Did anyone succeed in calling eMpTyV? I tried so many
times and the line was always busy. I have not seen 'Queen of
the Reich' or 'Gonna Get Close to You' videos at all. I suspect
that it is not really for people to call in and vote, just another
way of making people believe that the latest Michael Jackson
video is the most hip thing to see over and over again. It's
hard to believe that anybody would like to see it couple of times
        a day for months.

        jlee@weird.miami.fl.us (Jason) writes,
I campaign for voting for 'Eyes of a Stranger;' It's a
cool song/video, and I want to get it on videotape. Hey, now
that people seem to be more interested in heavy rock, we might
actually spark interest globally in 'Eyes of a Stranger' again.
Well, at least nationally. Who knows? EMI might even have to
re-release the single. A man can dream, can't he?
{Why don't you just go to the music store and buy
                        "Video: mindcrime," it's so much easier.  -sh}

        dwb4025@summa.tamu.edu (David) writes,
I got a copy of the "Ryche and Roll" bootleg, and on it,
Pamela Moore actually sings the role of Sister Mary on state, and
Geoff tells the crowd to give her a hand. This might help end
some of the argument as to whether or not she really sang it.

        jlee@weird.miami.fl.us (Jason) writes,
                I still I haven't heard Queensryche's rendition of
'Scarborough Fair,' and I'm bashing my head in the wall for not
doing so. I still reallly think Queensryche could very
profitably produce an album of all their B-side tracks. Seeing
how, in contrast with most other singles I've ever seen,
Queensryche's B-sides are almost as much worth buying the single
for as the actual song being released as the single, in some
        cases even more.

on Glia. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time
to figure out how to rotate them so many remain

find, as long as you know where to look.

        kinga@sd.cadence.com (Kinga) writes,
As far as the favorite bands go (besides Queensryche),
mine are The Beatles, Queen, Metallica, The Stranglers, Rush,
Talk Talk, Yes, old OMD and so many other different bands.

        ewk102@psuvm.psu.edu (Eric) writes,
Queensryche is only my second favorite band - I am a
diehard fan of Led Zeppelin first. As far as other bands I listen
to most frequently: U2, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Rush, the Cure,
Ministry, Metallica, Metal Church, Nine Inch Nails, the Scorpions,
MSG, Pearl Jam. Basically, what I look for in the music I listen
to is solid bass lines, excellent vocals, intense lyrics,
outpourings of emotion, and a tight band that sounds like they're
on the same wavelength. Bands I dislike are the antithesis of
this mindset. Since some bands don't actually make music, they
don't even count. Pop in general lacks all of these traits.

        kinga@sd.cadence.com (Kinga) writes,
Since I saw many people mentioning other bands sounding
like Queensryche, I would like to ask about Fates Warning output.
I have their latest CD "Parallels" and I read that they have at
least one more album out. Is it also similar to Queensryche
        material or to "Parallels?"

        jebusha@uccs.edu writes,
Anybody who loves the style Queensryche plays or similar
music styles will love a band called Lethal, and their album,
"Programmed," and an excellent group called Fates Warning, with
the album, "No Exit." Both are awesome.
